Pale stone, a glass pyramid and, early in the morning, almost nobody else.
The courtyard with the pyramid opens at 7:30 am and closes at 9 pm. The museum opens at 9:00 am, so the hour and a half before that is the quiet one. On Tuesdays the museum is closed and there is no queue around the pyramid at all.
The glass and the stone are pale, so strong colours stand out: red, black, white. After dark the pyramid is lit and the courtyard changes completely.
The arcades and the Cour Carrée next door give more backgrounds within a few minutes on foot.

As close to 7:30 am as you can. By 9:00 am the museum queue fills the courtyard.
What should I wear?
Solid, strong colours. The stone and the glass are pale, and beige disappears against them.
